Indianapolis-based Electronic Recordkeeping Systems (ERS) has announced that, after serving the industry for 41 years, it was entering into a collaborative partnership with fellow Midwest-based core provider CU*Answers, the cooperative CUSO headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The two companies will be joining forces to help current ERS credit union clients convert to the CU*Answers CU*BASE® core data processing suite over the next 16 months.

ERS CEO Don Heierman said, “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with CU*Answers as we sunset our core system at the end of 2022. We sought out CU*Answers because our two companies share a mission to help credit unions not only survive but thrive. The credit unions we work with are used to an engaged partner that values their input, so the transition to CU*Answers’ credit union owned cooperative network will be a great fit for them. We are blessed to have a loyal client base, and my team and I look forward to working side by side with those clients and CU*Answers as they transition from our core. We have no doubt that the robust, yet affordable, suite of products and services offered by CU*Answers and its allies will help our credit unions and their members long into the future.”

Randy Karnes, CEO of CU*Answers said, “We are excited about our new partnership with ERS, and we look forward to combining resources to help these new credit union partners join a 350-strong peer group of CU*BASE users across the country. At our very core, CU*Answers is dedicated to building a strong future for all credit unions that want to work alongside us. We commend the ERS team for their decades-long service to our industry and their commitment to pick a partner that was vested in the business plans of its clients. There is a special bond between ERS and their clients, and we look forward to building that same level of trust as we roll up our collective sleeves to transition them into our customer-owned network.”

Geoff Johnson, President and COO at CU*Answers also commented, “We have completed several conversion projects off the ERS core during the past couple years, so we have an established, documented and successful track record of working together on similar projects as we move forward. And, since we are headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, our execution teams are literally ‘right up the road’ from the ERS user community as we embark on the process.”
