This week, America’s Credit Unions and its political PAC announced they would be supporting five pro-credit union representatives in the upcoming House election in November with political advertising campaigns.
As part of ACU’s bipartisan approach, the chosen candidates are a fairly even mix of political parties, with three of the candidates being Democrats and two Republicans, and they represent four different states. These current five are a small portion of the $10 million America’s Credit Unions will be spending on 340 candidates nationwide for the general election.
These new advertising campaigns will run over the next two weeks for the following candidates:
- Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1)
- Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX-34)
- Rep. Steve Horsford (D-NV-3)
- Rep. Young Kim (R-CA-40)
- Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV-1)
“America’s Credit Unions’ political engagement is rooted in a balanced, bipartisan approach,” said Trey Hawkins, Head of Political Affairs at America’s Credit Unions. “These lawmakers have consistently championed credit union priorities that protect the financial choices of everyday Americans in their districts. In a divided Congress, America’s Credit Unions has an obligation to back candidates who understand the financial needs of Americans and will stand up for lenders back home.”
Additionally, America’s Credit Unions is supporting elections with boots on the ground. Just yesterday, they joined North Carolina State Representative Jennifer Balkcom on her multi-stop campaign tour across Western North Carolina to “connect with local credit union employees, members, and voters.”
“Jennifer is truly one of our own,” said Trey Hawkins, Head of Political Affairs at America’s Credit Unions. “She sat across the desk from working families, approved small business and mortgage loans, and understands firsthand how decisions made in Washington land on local financial institutions and the Americans who rely on them. With the balance of power in Congress up for grabs, this race is vital. We are fully committed to helping a proven credit union leader take her Main Street financial experience to Capitol Hill.”
In the 2026 primaries, 96% of ACU-backed candidates won and advanced to the November general election.
