CU*Answers Publishes Business Continuity Plan for Network Credit Unions


GRAND RAPIDS, MI – January 27, 2023

CU*Answers is proud to announce the release of the 2023 revision of its Business Continuity Plan. Updated every six months and approved by the Board of Directors annually, this document is published for review by credit unions on the CU*BASE platform as part of their vendor management program. As a core data processor for more than 300 credit unions across the country, CU*Answers continually invests in strategies and technologies to mitigate the risk of disruptions and to develop and execute test-validated response plans to build and demonstrate capabilities.

“At the heart of the Business Continuity Program is our decision to conduct regular high-availability (HA) rollovers with the participation of every network credit union in a live environment,” states Jim Lawrence, VP of Business Continuity and Data Center Operations. “This puts our plans to the test every few months, forcing us to consider what might go wrong and to develop contingency plans that are agile and can adapt to the changing circumstances. Whether a server weather event, a hardware failure, or a cybersecurity incident, maintaining a level of availability across six time zones is critical.”

Each January, the revised Business Continuity Plan is presented to the board of directors for approval along with a presentation to communicate the changes since the last revision, as well as anticipated changes and vision for the program over the next few years. “The investment is ongoing,” says Lawrence, “with multiple scenarios projected to accommodate for changes in not only the business strategy, but also the advancements in technology and changing threat landscape.”
