In recognition of the paramount role that board members play in the trajectory and success of credit unions, Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is dedicated to facilitating training opportunities for board members.
“The role of a credit union board member is vital to the direction and success of the institution,” said Katherine Fischer, instructional design manager for CUNA. “These offerings as a whole underline CUNA’s commitment to fostering board member growth and enhancing their ability to make informed strategic decisions. Board members can look at this as a journey of discovery.”
CUNA Credit Union Board School: Introduction & Designation in June is an opportunity for board members to learn ways to continue excelling in their roles. The new two-track school will be held in Savannah, GA:
- The “Introduction” track focuses on board effectiveness and financial condition, suitable for board members new to their roles.
- The “Designation” track goes a step further, enabling board members to earn the premier CUNA board designation, Certified Credit Union Board Member (CCUB).
Three months later, CUNA Credit Union Board Roundtable offers a great next step for board members to continue expanding their knowledge. The Chicago event is a platform for peer-to-peer dialogue, discussions with industry leaders and insights into economic and financial trends. It is perfect for established board chairs and experienced board members looking to strengthen their effectiveness and leadership.
“With education comes growth, and with growth comes the success of not just the board members themselves, but the entire credit union,” Fischer said.
